Pregnancy week 2

Medically, you are considered to be 2 weeks pregnant but conception hasn’t occurred yet. If you conceive during this cycle your pregnancy will be calculated from the first day of your last period which was two weeks ago.
pregnancy week 2

When you are 2 Weeks Pregnant, you will ovulate this week meaning that your ovaries will release an egg which will move to your Fallopian tubes and wait to be fertilized for a period of 12 to 24 hours.

It’s impossible to know the exact moment of fertilization but once the fertilized egg implants in the uterus, your body will begin showing mild signs of pregnancy within four to five days.

Your changing body

In anticipation of conception your uterus is forming a thick lining known as the endometrium. If an egg gets fertilized, it will implant on this wall. However if this is not the case, this wall will shed and get expelled from the body in the form of your next menstruation period.

You would now begin to notice that your vaginal discharge is stringy. At 2 Weeks Pregnant, it will continue to get heavier, these are some of the earliest signs of pregnancy. This may be the time to shop for a thermometer or an ovulation predictor kit so that you are aware when your ovulation begins. The thermometer can help you know when you are ovulating because you will have an increased basal body temperature while the ovulation kit tests your urine for hormonal changes. Both these items can be found at your local chemist.

If you are trying to get pregnant, it isn’t too late to kick some habits like drinking, smoking or taking recreational drugs which are detrimental to your health and that of your unborn baby. Other signs of ovulation that you are likely to experience are a heightened sense of smell, a spike in your libido and some mild cramping in your lower stomach.

This week’s tip: If you have been trying to get pregnant, you must have heard a lot of talk about which positions are best or how often you are supposed to have sex.

Josephine Were, a 29-year old mother of one shares that she had also heard these things and when she attempted to apply most of those things, they took the joy out of love making. “Do not forget to enjoy the sex or to bond with your significant other. Just enjoy it and let nature take its course,” she counsels.
