Camy has over 14 years of experience in clinical practice with 10 of those in women’s health. She is passionate about high-risk pregnancy and keen on safe and positive pregnancy experiences for mothers. At Malaica, she holds health education forums for mums in the form of flash chats and webinars, she also runs antenatal and postnatal consultations at the Malaica clinic. She conducts both vaginal and Caesarian deliveries at Malaica’s partner facility and offers contraception counselling and services to mums.

Why I Love Working at Malaica: It’s amazing working with a team of like-minded individuals who not only focus on the outcomes but ensure the journey is pleasant and memorable.

Every woman’s pregnancy journey is unique, what is universal is the need for a listening ear that genuinely cares.

Dr. Kohe Dukakis Alexandre

Consultant Obstetrician/Gynaecologist

Dr. Kohe Dukakis Alexandre is a highly experienced Consultant Obstetrician-Gynaecologist with over 12 years of dedicated service in maternal and newborn care. Practising in Nairobi County, he specializes in high-risk pregnancies and complex gynaecological surgeries, with a strong commitment to advancing reproductive health through education and advocacy. Dr. Alexandre’s passion for improving healthcare outcomes drives his compassionate approach to patient care.

Fun Fact: Outside of medicine, Dr. Alexandre is a classically trained musician, an astute chef and foodie, and an adrenaline junkie who loves trying new and exciting activities including zip-lining, hydro cycling and aiming to paraglide in the future.

Dr Lorraine Muluka

CEO and Co-Founder

Lorraine holds a Masters in Medicine with a specialization in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Among others, she has worked at Avenue Healthcare and Kenyatta National Hospital. Based on a keen interest in innovating and improving the Kenyan healthcare system, Lorraine has played key roles in several healthcare startups over the last decade and at the end of 2021, Lorraine decided to go all in with a startup that is focused on maternal health and co-founded Malaica.

Why I Love Working at Malaica:
My daily motivation comes from the need to bring quality care to maternal healthcare. Being able to make a difference by not only treating my patients but also empowering them to take charge of their health gives me the most satisfaction.

Dr. Hassan Iman

Malaica Project Leader - Garissa

With over 10 years of experience in both private and public healthcare, Dr.Hassan is passionate about improving maternal and child health, and bringing strategic and impactful changes that align with best medical practices. Currently, he’s  focused on leading efforts to enhance healthcare outcomes in underserved communities.

Fun Fact or Personal Interest:
Dr. Hassan is an avid soccer fan and enjoys coaching youth teams in his community during weekends. When he’s not at work, you’ll find him exploring nature or reading

Medical Director

As Medical Director, Lisa oversees the clinical aspects of Malaica. Lisa is an Obstetrician/Gynaecologist and passionate about women’s health. She loves to see women empowered and well educated about their reproductive well-being.

Why I Love Working at Malaica:
Malaica stays true to its values of providing holistic, quality care to ALL women during pregnancy and beyond. This really resonates with me and makes my job enjoyable :)

Lisa loves all things music and plays the violin and piano.

Ms. Ivanna Waweru

Psychologist

Ivanna, a psychologist with over seven years of experience, combines her journey as a young mother with her professional expertise to support mums through pregnancy and postpartum. At Malaica, she provides online and in-person sessions that help mums access resources, heal from past traumas, and build effective communication skills. With her guidance, mums develop the mental and emotional resilience they need for a fulfilling motherhood journey.

Fun Fact: Ivanna loves to swim and engage in aqua-zumba. In her free time,  she loves to travel around and explore hidden gems.

Why I Love Working at Malaica: I love working at Malaica because my team mates care genuinely about the moms we work with and it makes my work much easier because everyone in the team is also working towards providing a mentally and emotionally safe space for all our moms. It truly shows me the that “team work makes the dream work”

Pascal Koenig

Co-Founder and Executive Chair

After starting his career as a consultant at McKinsey, Pascal built three startups in the digital health space. The last one – women’s health company Ava – grew to a team of 100+ people working on three continents, generating eight-digit USD revenue during Pascal’s tenure as CEO. Pascal has been frustrated by the inefficiencies and poor outcomes of the pregnancy journey, and co-founded Malaica to change this.

Fun Fact:
Pascal thought about working in Nairobi when he first visited the city in 2000. It took him more than 20 years to actually do it 😀

Pauline is a social scientist with 5+ years of femtech innovation experience, previously holding a career in journalism.

Crochets and knits some of her own clothes and accessories – for Pauline it’s a form of meditation and relaxation.

Co-Founder and CTO

Victor is a Computer Science graduate from the University of Nairobi with close to 20 years of experience building IT solutions. He has worked as a software developer and IT consultant across various industries and founded several tech companies, including software development consultancies and SaaS businesses. Currently, he leads Malaica’s tech development, driven by a desire to improve healthcare systems and impact millions of women.

Fun Fact or Personal Interest:
Victor is a classic car enthusiast, having owned and restored a 1972 VW Beetle

Patricia Ojijo is a dedicated public health practitioner with a strong focus on epidemiology. Her strong background in public health research, combined with skills in data analysis and community engagement, makes her a valuable asset in improving clinical outcomes and driving quality improvements.

Hellen is a qualified KRCHN/BScN, and has over 10 years of experience in Healthcare with over 5 years in Midwifery expertise. Passionate about Maternal and Child Health and keen on reducing the cases of Maternal and Neonatal Mortality rates in Kenya and in the World at large.

Fun Fact:
Hellen loves her personal space and so do not like travelling.

Milcah Shabanji

Community & Communications Manager

Milcah began her career in environmental conservation, gradually transitioning into marketing and communication. With a growing interest in women’s health, she joined MumsVillage in 2021 and successfully managed and grew their vibrant pregnancy and parenting community. Following the merger with MumsVillage, Milcah has continued to excel in managing Malaica’s communications, and online community.

Fun fact: Milcah is a passionate conservationist with a deep love for both books and games. When not immersed in nature, you can find her either hosting an online game or happily engrossed in a good book.

Why I Love Working at Malaica:
I feel like the universe aligned everything, to place me in my current position. I love being a part of the solution for improving maternal healthcare in Kenya and ensuring mothers have a safer and better pregnancy experience.

Evarlyne Atieno June

Supamum

Evarlyne is a Supa Mum with the Britam Foundation Project with a strong background in Social Work and Development and  5 years of experience in Customer Service. She has a passion for Community engagement and development and  Service delivery through the Online support group offered by Malaica thus contributing to Community Support.

Fun Fact:
Evarlyne does not do too well with crowds, she loves her personal space and loves cooking and trying out new recipes.

Why you love working with Malaica:
Being part of an organization that supports maternal health and gives me a chance to interact with the mothers daily, being able to identify problems and offer prompt solutions aimed towards reducing maternal mortality rate is the most fulfilling part of my career.

Edwin Mwaniki

Senior Systems Engineer

Edwin is an engineer at Malaica with a background in software engineering and system administration. Edwin develops software used at Malaica and also supports Malaica’s IT infrastructure. Edwin is passionate about problem-solving and is excited by how new emerging technologies are being used in health tech.

Edwin loves cooking and being in nature.

Annmaria is a computer Science graduate from the University of Nairobi with a deep passion for using technology to solve problems around her.

Beldine has over 4 years of experience in the finance and administration department. Before Malaica, she worked at Zeraki as a Finance Manager. She is currently building the accounting function to help the team serve the Malaica community better.

As a SupaMum with 7 years of experience in customer service, Mercy specialises in supporting mums-to-be with compassionate care and meaningful connections. Her passion is empowering them with the knowledge and support for a positive pregnancy and motherhood experience

Fun Factor Personal Interest:
Mercy loves nature and finds peace on nature trails, surrounded by its beauty. She also has a special fondness for animals, especially dogs. If she wasn’t doing customer service, she’d likely be an animal activist.

Agatha is a qualified Nurse with a vast experience of 10 years in Maternal and Child Health. Passionate about improving good outcomes of pregnancy to reduce Maternal Mortality and Morbidity.

Socialising and meeting new people. It interests me to learn different ways of other people.

Malaica has a very vital mission, to alleviate the burden of maternal and neonatal mortality and morbidity. This aligns with my mission as a Nurse Midwife.

Philly has close to 9 years of experience in healthcare managing operations. At Malaica, she ensures the smooth rollout of products and handover to the operations team.

Philly has a phobia for heights and she would love to skydive one day to overcome this fear.
