Camy has over 14 years of experience in clinical practice with 10 of those in women’s health. She is passionate about high-risk pregnancy and keen on safe and positive pregnancy experiences for mothers. At Malaica, she holds health education forums for mums in the form of flash chats and webinars, she also runs antenatal and postnatal consultations at the Malaica clinic. She conducts both vaginal and Caesarian deliveries at Malaica’s partner facility and offers contraception counselling and services to mums.

Why I Love Working at Malaica: It’s amazing working with a team of like-minded individuals who not only focus on the outcomes but ensure the journey is pleasant and memorable.

Every woman’s pregnancy journey is unique, what is universal is the need for a listening ear that genuinely cares.

Dr. Kohe Dukakis Alexandre

Consultant Obstetrician/Gynaecologist

Dr. Kohe Dukakis Alexandre is a highly experienced Consultant Obstetrician-Gynaecologist with over 12 years of dedicated service in maternal and newborn care. Practising in Nairobi County, he specializes in high-risk pregnancies and complex gynaecological surgeries, with a strong commitment to advancing reproductive health through education and advocacy. Dr. Alexandre’s passion for improving healthcare outcomes drives his compassionate approach to patient care.

Fun Fact: Outside of medicine, Dr. Alexandre is a classically trained musician, an astute chef and foodie, and an adrenaline junkie who loves trying new and exciting activities including zip-lining, hydro cycling and aiming to paraglide in the future.

Lorraine holds a Masters in Medicine with a specialization in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Among others, she has worked at Avenue Healthcare and Kenyatta National Hospital. Based on a keen interest in innovating and improving the Kenyan healthcare system, Lorraine has played key roles in several healthcare startups over the last decade and at the end of 2021, Lorraine decided to go all in with a startup that is focused on maternal health and co-founded Malaica.

Why I Love Working at Malaica:
My daily motivation comes from the need to bring quality care to maternal healthcare. Being able to make a difference by not only treating my patients but also empowering them to take charge of their health gives me the most satisfaction.

Dr. Hassan Iman

Malaica Project Leader - Garissa

With over 10 years of experience in both private and public healthcare, Dr.Hassan is passionate about improving maternal and child health, and bringing strategic and impactful changes that align with best medical practices. Currently, he’s  focused on leading efforts to enhance healthcare outcomes in underserved communities.

Fun Fact or Personal Interest:
Dr. Hassan is an avid soccer fan and enjoys coaching youth teams in his community during weekends. When he’s not at work, you’ll find him exploring nature or reading

Psychologist

Ivanna, a psychologist with over seven years of experience, combines her journey as a young mother with her professional expertise to support mums through pregnancy and postpartum. At Malaica, she provides online and in-person sessions that help mums access resources, heal from past traumas, and build effective communication skills. With her guidance, mums develop the mental and emotional resilience they need for a fulfilling motherhood journey.

Fun Fact: Ivanna loves to swim and engage in aqua-zumba. In her free time,  she loves to travel around and explore hidden gems.

Why I Love Working at Malaica: I love working at Malaica because my team mates care genuinely about the moms we work with and it makes my work much easier because everyone in the team is also working towards providing a mentally and emotionally safe space for all our moms. It truly shows me the that “team work makes the dream work”

Pascal Koenig

Co-Founder and Executive Chair

After starting his career as a consultant at McKinsey, Pascal built three startups in the digital health space. The last one – women’s health company Ava – grew to a team of 100+ people working on three continents, generating eight-digit USD revenue during Pascal’s tenure as CEO. Pascal has been frustrated by the inefficiencies and poor outcomes of the pregnancy journey, and co-founded Malaica to change this.

Fun Fact:
Pascal thought about working in Nairobi when he first visited the city in 2000. It took him more than 20 years to actually do it 😀

Co-Founder and CTO

Victor is a Computer Science graduate from the University of Nairobi with close to 20 years of experience building IT solutions. He has worked as a software developer and IT consultant across various industries and founded several tech companies, including software development consultancies and SaaS businesses. Currently, he leads Malaica’s tech development, driven by a desire to improve healthcare systems and impact millions of women.

Fun Fact or Personal Interest:
Victor is a classic car enthusiast, having owned and restored a 1972 VW Beetle
